Why?
Agamid adenovirus can occur in bearded dragons, including those without obvious signs. Screening may be relevant when introducing animals, before breeding or before sale.

What are the limitations?
A negative PCR result applies only to the submitted sample and does not prove that the animal is free from the pathogen. The available adenovirus investigation must be matched to the laboratory target and appropriate specimen before sampling.
