Why?
Reptarenaviruses are associated with boa inclusion body disease (BIBD). Screening is relevant when introducing boas, before breeding or before sale.

What are the limitations?
A negative PCR result applies only to the submitted sample and does not prove that the animal is free from the pathogen. A blood smear for characteristic inclusion bodies can provide complementary information; blood collection is required and ERHR does not offer this examination.
